WARRENTON, Mo., Aug. 6 (UPI) -- The operators of an exotic animal farm in Missouri say they will close down following a weekend attack by a tiger that cost a man his leg.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Ken Smith told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Wednesday he and his wife, Sandra, would shut down their Wesa-A-Geh-Ya farm near Warrenton and disperse the animals to other wildlife sanctuaries.

"I don't think I can fight the fight anymore", Smith told the newspaper. "I think this has taken the life out of me."

The incident Sunday left 26-year-old Jacob Barr of Warrenton without the lower half of his right leg. Barr had been helping out as a volunteer and was cleaning out a cage when the 800-pound tiger leaped over a 12-foot fence and pounced on him.

The attack ended when the tiger was shot.

Barr's father told the Post-Dispatch his son never had much luck with animals. He recalled a time when Jacob was a child and his brothers were teasing a dog that ran over and bit Jacob, who had been minding his own business at the time.
