KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 13 (UPI) -- Bombardier Aerospace says it will produce its new C-Series aircraft in Montreal instead of building a new assembly plant at Kansas City International Airport.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The aerospace company, based in Montreal, made its announcement Sunday at the Farnborough International Airshow in London, The Kansas City Star reported.

"The final assembly facility will be located in Mirabel, in the greater Montreal area, thus ensuring Bombardier's access to a skilled aerospace workforce and to an established aerospace education system", said Guy Hachey, president and chief operating officer of the company.

Kansas City was the other finalist for the $375 million assembly plant, which will ultimately employ more than 2,000 workers. Kansas City officials had offered a handsome package of incentives, the newspaper reported.

The Canadian company was pressured to build the bulk of the 110- to 130-seat aircraft in its home country, even though the declining dollar made the United States an attractive location for the new plant.
