PORT ORFORD, Ore., March 15 (UPI) -- An earthquake measuring 5.9 magnitude was recorded off the coast of Oregon Saturday, U.S. geologists reported.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Angel Gutierrez of the U.S. Geological Survey in Golden, Colo., told Salem-News.com the 7:44 a.m. temblor's epicenter was 112 miles west of Port Orford. At 6.2 miles deep, it was relatively shallow and didn't trigger tsunami warnings for Oregon coastal communities, the news Web site reported.

Such minor earthquakes are not uncommon in the Pacific off the West Coast.
