SALT LAKE CITY, May 28 (UPI) -- Utah officials say they plan to promptly begin forcible medication of one of the alleged kidnappers of Elizabeth Smart.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The state Supreme Court lifted a stay Tuesday on the treatment of Wanda Barzee, who had earlier been found incompetent to stand trial in the sensational 2002 kidnapping of the then 14-year-old Smart.

Smart was found alive nearly a year later living on the streets of Salt Lake City in the company of Barzee and her husband, Brian Mitchell.

"We do have the order and we do plan on starting her treatment", Dallas Earnshaw, superintendent of the Utah State Hospital, told The Salt Lake Tribune.

The Utah court's order came after the U.S. Supreme Court last week declined to hear Barzee's case, which was aimed at blocking her treatment with unwanted psychotropic drugs.

The newspaper said Mitchell is also a candidate for forced medication. Mitchell has claimed to be a prophet while Barzee has claimed to receive messages from God through her television.
