| WILMETTE, Ill., April 14 (UPI) -- Four people told police they saw a cougar in the village of Wilmette, Ill., two weeks after numerous alleged cougar sitings just south of the Wisconsin border. SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS Wilmette police searched the town after receiving four reports of cougar sitings Saturday, but had no luck spotting the big cat, the Chicago Tribune reported. "I've seen deer, opossums, raccoons, foxes and coyotes in this neighborhood. But a cougar? Now that would be unusual", Wilmette resident Gail Teague told the Tribune. Only two cougars have been confirmed in Illinois since the 1862, but experts claim there are signs the animals are moving east from the Rocky Mountains. There was a confirmed cougar spotting in Wisconsin in January and several people in March said they saw a cougar in North Chicago, about 20 miles north of Wilmette. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Related News Topics:
