| EAGLE RIVER, Wis., June 19 (UPI) -- Wildlife experts in Wisconsin say a 31-year-old eagle found dead may be the oldest recorded instance of an eagle living in the Midwest wilderness. SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS The dead female eagle was found May 16 on the beach of an island of Razorback Lake near Sayner, Wis., the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. Ron Eckstein, a Department of Natural Resources biologist, said a leg band the eagle was wearing was 31 years old. Eckstein said he thinks the bird was the oldest recorded instance of an eagle surviving in the wilderness of Michigan or Wisconsin. Documents indicate the eagle hatched in the Ottawa National Forest near the Michigan border in 1977. Federal officials withdrew eagles from being guarded by the Endangered Species Act in June 2007, the newspaper said. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Related News Topics:
