MILWAUKEE, June 12 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama returned to Wisconsin Thursday, with a poll showing him leading his Republican opponent in the state.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Obama leads Republican John McCain 50 percent to 37 percent among 506 likely voters, according to a poll conducted Sunday to Tuesday by the University of Wisconsin-Madison's political science department and Wispolitics.com, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.

Obama won the Wisconsin Democratic primary with a 17-point lead over rival Hillary Clinton in the Badger State's Feb. 19 presidential primary.

In a speech in Washington, McCain accused Obama of wanting to raise taxes for many Americans.

"On tax policy, healthcare reform, trade, government spending and a long list of other issues, we offer very different choices to the American people", the Arizona senator said.

Obama has proposed tax increases for high income earners, for those making more than $250,000 a year, while proposing middle-class tax cuts, including a $500 per worker credit and no income taxes for seniors

making less than $50,000.
