| LAKE DELTON, Wis., June 13 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin resort that lost its lake has another major problem -- the town had opted out of federal flood insurance, so it had no coverage. SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS Lake Delton had begun the process of rejoining the program, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports. But that does not help residents who lost their homes when the flooded lake found a new outlet by breaching a county road. John Langhans, the village engineer, said Lake Delton opted out of the program because of a dispute over the Federal Emergency Management Agency's maps of its floodplain. He said FEMA had agreed to revise the maps, including more accurate data. Tom Pekar said local officials assured him a dam would protect him from flooding and his insurance agent also told him he did not need flood coverage. Part of his recently built house now dangles over a cliff created when Lake Delton opened a new tributary to the Wisconsin River. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Related News Topics:
