WINTER PARK, Fla., June 22 (UPI) -- A Florida woman said she suing a dentist who allegedly dropped a medical instrument into her father's throat that caused him to die.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Anne Greer, who is filing the civil lawsuit, accompanied her father, Charles Gaal, 90, on an October 2006 visit to Dr. Wesley Meyers in Winter Park, Fla., WKMG-TV in Orlando reported Sunday.

Greer claims Meyers accidentally allowed a medical screwdriver to slip into her father's throat, which was later taken out of his large intestine during a colonoscopy.

When Gaal went back to Meyers in May 2007, another instrument was allegedly dropped into his throat, WKMG reported.

Greer said complications caused Gaal to die last June.

"Wesley Meyers is the one who is responsible for my father's death and it was a horrible death", Greer said.

Meyers is still practicing dentistry after an investigation by the Florida Department of Health prompted the Board of Dentistry to fine him $17,000, the report said.

"I've been practicing 35 years without a problem and it was a terrible accident", Meyers said.
