BALTIMORE, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Felicia "Snoop" Pearson, who appeared on the acclaimed HBO series "The Wire", was charged with a minor drug offense, authorities say.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Police forced their way into Pearson's Baltimore home Wednesday to compel her to testify as a witness in a murder trial and discovered what appeared to be marijuana, the Baltimore Sun reported Friday.

Pearson, 28, was charged with one count of drug possession, the newspaper said. Authorities are seeking her testimony in the forthcoming murder trial of Steven James Lashley, who is accused of stabbing three men, killing one, after an argument that began outside of a chicken restaurant in 2005.

Affidavits filed in the case say Pearson watched the alleged stabbing, then ignored prosecutors' phone calls and failed to appear for an April 21 trial date, the Sun reported.

A one-time drug dealer, Pearson pleaded guilty in 1996 to second-degree murder and was sentenced to eight years in prison. When released, she allegedly re-entered the drug world before being spotted in a nightclub and eventually cast as a cold-blooded killer on "The Wire", a television crime drama set in Baltimore, the newspaper said.
