MIAMI, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- A man accused of threatening likely Democratic Party U.S. presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama was in jail Friday after being ordered held without bond.

A federal judge in Miami ordered Raymond Hunter Geisel, 22, to be put in a federal detention facility, The Miami Herald reported. U.S. Secret Service agents allege Geisel made the threats during a bail bondsman training class last month in Miami and later at a hotel where the students were staying.

Affidavits filed in the case say one of Geisel's fellow students heard him threaten Obama, D-Ill.,saying, "If he gets elected, I'll assassinate him myself." Another student claimed he said he heard Geisel say he wanted to shoot U.S. President George Bush, the newspaper reported.

The Secret Service says that during questioning, Geisel denied making any threats but then allegedly said that "if he wanted to kill Senator Obama he simply would shoot him with a sniper rifle." He then allegedly claimed the remark was a joke, the Herald reported.

Affidavits said a search of Geisel's room allegedly turned up more than 100 rounds of ammunition, including armor-piercing bullets, as well as body armor, batons, a stun gun, knives and a loaded handgun.
