BAGHDAD, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Members of Iraq's Sadrist Movement protested in Baghdad Wednesday, calling for an end to operations by the U.S.-led Multi-National Force.

The Kuwait news agency KUNA protesters demanded the release of all MNF prisoners and criticized the military force for allegedly making indiscriminate arrests in the region.

Citing a recent series of crackdowns by coalition forces, the protesters demanded the Multi-National Forces withdraw from Iraq.

Ahmad Al-Shibani, spokesman for Shiite leader Moqtada Al-Sadr, said the religious political party's leader was currently in Iraq. He warned MNF leaders not to continue with military efforts against regional Sadrist leaders, and said the Sadr-lead group would maintain its support of the nation's political process.

Sadrist leaders Fuad Al-Tarafi and Imad Al-Hasnawi were arrested earlier in the week by MNF soldiers, KUNA reported.
