NEW YORK, June 22 (UPI) -- The late New York Episcopal Bishop Paul Moore Jr. had clandestine relationships with other men despite being married with children, a new book alleges.

Moore's daughter, Honor, alleges in her memoir "The Bishop's Daughter" that her father kept his homosexuality a secret to those in the Anglican Communion, The Hartford (Conn.) Courant reported Sunday.

Moore's eldest daughter said she knew of the Episcopal bishop's alleged romantic relationships for nearly 20 years, but only recently chose to expose the truth to the general public.

That decision has already been criticized by many of her siblings, who say the noted religious figure would likely not have wanted his "private life" exposed.

"Doesn't it matter, even when someone is dead, that his most fervently held private life, and the unnecessary explicit details of his marriage, are exposed against his wishes? We believe that it does matter, and that both our parents' good legacies have been damaged", Susanna McKean Moore, Paul Moore III and George Mead Moore said in a letter.

The Courant said Honor Moore has defended her decision, alleging certain individuals in the Anglican church knew of Moore's bisexuality before his death in 2003.
