Baltimore won for the third time in five games, with Daniel Cabrera (6-4) going the distance for the second time this season. He scattered seven hits and did not walk a batter.

Ramon Hernandez went 3-for-4 and drove in a run for the Orioles. Cabrera has started eight games against the Royals in his career and the Orioles have won them all.

Gil Meche (6-9) suffered his first loss since June 5, when he began a personal three-start winning streak. He surrendered five runs on nine hits in six innings.

Kansas City's David DeJesus extended his hitting streak to 14 games, going 3-for-4 with a homer.

The Royals have dropped four of five after having won 11 of 12.
