SAN DIEGO, May 22 (UPI) -- Ryan Ludwick and Troy Glaus both drove in three runs Wednesday and St. Louis roughed up San Diego 11-3.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The Cardinals' Albert Pujols was personally responsible for San Diego starting pitcher Chris Young and catcher Josh Bard leaving the game with injuries.

St. Louis pounded out 16 hits, including a two-run homer by Rick Ankiel in the eighth. Ludwick drove in a run with a groundout in the third and singled home two runs in the fourth. Glaus delivered two runs with a third-inning single and his base hit drove in another in the fourth.

Braden Looper (6-3) got the win, giving up eight hits and three runs over five innings. Young (4-4) suffered the loss, having allowed three runs on four hits in 2 1/3.

Young was hit in the face by a line drive off the bat of Pujols in the third. Young was still bleeding when he walked off the field under his own power. Pujols eventually scored in the third and he ran over Bard to do so. Bard suffered an injury to his left foot in the collision and had to leave the game.
