BOSTON, May 21 (UPI) -- Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits, including a homer, and three runs scored Wednesday in pacing Boston to a 6-3 decision over Kansas City.

Boston won its sixth straight, with Jason Varitek adding a home run and Dustin Pedroia contributing three hits.

Bartolo Colon (1-0) got the victory in his first appearance of the season and his Boston debut. He gave up two runs on six hits in five innings.

Colon signed a minor-league deal with Boston Feb. 8 and made three starts for Class AAA Pawtucket before being called up prior to Wednesday's start.

Brett Tomko (2-5) coughed up five runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 to take the loss. Kansas City has dropped four out of five.
