ATLANTA, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Elijah Dukes's three-run 14th-inning double Sunday boosted the Washington Nationals to an 8-5 win over the Atlanta Braves.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Dukes's smash past Atlanta third baseman Chipper Jones cleared the bases with one out in the top of the 14th, snapped a 5-5 tie, and ended a personal 0-for-6 slump.

Albert Gonzalez had three hits, one his first career homer in the seventh, and three RBI. One of two hits for Lastings Milledge was a solo second-inning homer, and Aaron Boone added three hits for the Nationals, who split the four-game series.

The winning pitcher was Steven Shell (2-1).

Closer Joel Hanrahan earned his eighth save.

Jones led Atlanta's 16-hit attack with three hits, one a two-run second-inning double. Yunel Escobar also had three hits, while Gregor Banco and Martin Prado had one RBI each for the Braves, who stranded 14 base runners.

The losing pitcher was Jeff Bennett (2-6).
