LOS ANGELES, May 22 (UPI) -- Hiroki Kuroda won Wednesday for the first time since his major league debut, pitching the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 5-2 victory over Cincinnati.

Kuroda (2-3) won April 4 and then went 0-3 in his next eight starts. He allowed the Reds two runs on five hits over eight innings. Takashi Saito came on in the ninth to record his eighth save.

The Dodgers swept Cincinnati in a three-game series.

James Loney hit a solo homer for Los Angeles in the seventh and the Dodgers' other runs were scored on a ground out, wild pitch, passed ball and a throwing error.

Johnny Cueto (2-5) was saddled with the loss, giving up seven hits and four runs over five innings.

The eighth-inning stint was the longest of the season for Kuroda.
