GREEN BAY, Wis., July 24 (UPI) -- Support for ex-Packers quarterback Brett Favre was lacking Thursday when more than 9,000 team shareholders held their annual meeting in Green Bay, Wis.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Various media reports have said that the 38-year-old Favre might show up unannounced when the team opens its training camp at St. Norbert College in DePere, Wis., on Sunday, despite having been told by team officials that the starter this season will be Aaron Rodgers and that he is welcome to return in a backup position.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Tuesday that the future hall of famer continued to use a Green Bay-issued cell phone after his retirement, and that phone records show repeated calls to Vikings coach Brad Childress and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.

Green Bay president Mark Murphy told shareholders that the Favre matter is "a sensitive situation."

If the Vikings are found guilty of tampering, they could be fined or face the forfeiture of draft picks.
