HOOVER, Ala., May 16 (UPI) -- Andy Bean and Mike Goodes both shot 7-under 65 Friday to share the lead after one round of the Regions Charity Classic in Hoover, Ala.

Between them, the co-leaders have just one Champions Tour victory -- Bean won the Greater Hickory Classic in 2006. Goodes joined the over-50 tour last year and has yet to finish among the top 20.

Bernhard Langer, coming off a 15th-place finish at The Players Championship, was alone in third at 67. Mike Hulbert, Bob Charles and Walter Hall were all at 68.

Soggy conditions greeted the players as the Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa.

"Maybe with the course being wetter it helped me keep the ball in the fairways", Bean said. "The greens were holding too."

Denis Watson, who like Langer has won twice on the circuit this year, was at 69 along with Loren Roberts, Scott Simpson, Joey Sindelar, Jeff Sluman, Ian Woosnam and Bruce Vaughan.
