GLENDALE, Ariz., Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Quarterback Drew Brees took New Orleans on an early scoring drive and the Saints went on to a 24-10 pre-season win Thursday over the Arizona Cardinals.

Brees tossed a 7-yard touchdown pass to David Patten and quarterback Tyler Palko also threw a scoring pass for New Orleans.

The Saints' Robert Meachem caught a touchdown pass and totaled 129 yards receiving.

Aaron Stecker rushed for 39 yards and a score.

Matt Leinart was Arizona's quarterback on the first two series, connecting on seven of eight passes for 91 yards. Brian St. Pierre then completed 12 of 18 passes for 84 yards for the Cardinals and Steve Breaston caught three passes for 50 yards.

Tim Hightower ran 1 yard for Arizona's touchdown.
