BETHESDA, Md., July 3 (UPI) -- Steve Marino, seeking his first PGA Tour victory in his third year on the circuit, grabbed a one-shot lead Thursday in the first round of the AT&T National.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Marino birdied three of the first four holes and shot a 5-under 65 at the Congressional Country Club. His best finish to date on the tour has been a second, which came in Mexico earlier this year while the world's top players were competing in the Accenture Match Play Championship.

Jeff Overton, Frank Lickliter, Rod Pampling and Bob Estes were all at 66 while the large group at 67 included Stuart Appleby, Alex Cejka and Anthony Kim.

Masters champion Trevor Immelman and Rocco Mediate, who lost to Tiger Woods in a playoff at last month's U.S. Open, both shot 73 and will need a good score on Friday to make the 36-hole cut.

Marino has three top-10 finishes to his credit this year and is 50th on the FedEx Cup points list.

The highest-rated player on that list in the field this week is sixth-ranked Ryuji Imada, who shot a 74 in the opening round.
