LONDON, May 31 (UPI) -- A new 42-inch TV set being manufactured by the Phillips electronics company will have 3-D picture capabilities, British experts say.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Picture Production Company business development director Ben Nicholls said fans of such British TV series as "EastEnders" will be able to use the new TV sets to become fully immersed those programs, The Daily Telegraph said Friday.

"If you are a big fan of 'EastEnders,' you will feel as if you've been invited into the homes of your favorite characters", he said.

"It's a totally immersive experience that makes people feel incredible involved in what's going on", added Nicholls, whose company is creating content for the new set.

PPC director of legal and commercial Mark Hurry told the Telegraph the 3-D sets would likely only attract companies at first, but should eventually enjoy mainstream use.

"The early adopters will be companies looking for innovative ways to attract passers-by, but it will only be a matter of time before the demand for 3-D TV grows so much that consumers will want it in their homes", Hurry told the newspaper.
