LONDON, July 1 (UPI) -- Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse has left The London Clinic where she was undergoing treatment for the early stages of emphysema.

The 24-year-old recording artist left the clinic to perform at a concert celebrating Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday and to sing at the Glastonbury music festival during the weekend.

The Daily Telegraph said she returned to the clinic by helicopter after her Glastonbury gig Saturday, but then left the facility 24 hours later.

"Amy did return to hospital after her Glastonbury performance but her doctors recommended that she continue as an outpatient", her spokesman told The Telegraph. "She was allowed to leave for the performances and it was felt that this went really well. As her treatment is coming to a close, it was decided she should return home."

A friend told the newspaper: "She told (her father) Mitch: 'I'm climbing the walls in here.

I need to get out.' She said if he didn't help her get out she'd walk out."
