WINDSOR, Ontario, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Canadian health officials in Ontario issued a call Thursday for 27 Greyhound bus passengers who rode with a tuberculosis-infected passenger to come forward.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The bus was bound for Detroit from Toronto on Aug. 31, and one unidentified passenger was detained by U.S. Customs officials who learned of the infection, CTV News reported.

There was no indication why it took more than a month for officials to make the call for other passengers to come forward.

Greyhound bus 0367 had at least 42 passengers when it arrived in Windsor, Ontario, and 27 disembarked, Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams said in a statement.

"If you were one of the 27 people ... we ask that you contact your local public health unit who will give you direction on what to do", Williams' statement published in the Windsor Star said.

Williams said there is a low risk of the lung infection that can be spread by coughing or sneezing but officials want to clear anyone who could have been infected by the tubercular passenger.
