MOOSE JAW, Saskatchewan, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Two people were killed when a jet belonging to Canada's military aerobatic Snowbirds team crashed in Saskatchewan, military officials said.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

At a news conference in Moose Jaw, Col. Paul Keddy, commander of 15 Wing, told reporters the two-person CT-114 Tutor jet went down less than two miles from the base about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, the Regina Leader-Post reported.

Keddy said the two men aboard were military pilots, but not members of the precision flying squad that do about 60 performances each year. Their identities were not immediately released.

There were three other training planes in the air at the time, which one of the men in the downed jet were photographing in formation, the Globe and Mail reported. None of theother training planes were involved in the crash and landed safely, base public relations spokeswoman Capt. Genevieve Mitchell said. The four aircraft had been airborne for about 45 minutes in clear weather, she said.

The nine-jet demonstration team is performing in San Francisco, and will not be recalled home early, officials told the Globe.
