BEIJING, July 11 (UPI) -- Government censors reportedly are demanding changes be made to "The Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" before the movie is released in China.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Starring Brendan Fraser, Michelle Yeoh and Jet Li, the third installment in the "Mummy" franchise was filmed in China.

Variety.com said that before it hits theaters in that country, however, censors want some changes made to the action flick.

The State Administration for Radio, Film and Television confirmed to the entertainment industry trade paper that the release of the movie in China is pending, however, it offered no further details regarding why a date has not already been set.

"Universal does not anticipate any obstacles to clearing the film for China and looks forward to releasing 'The Mummy: Tomb of The Dragon Emperor' in the country where it was set and shot", the movie studio told Variety.com.

Bill Kong, whose Edko Film is Universal's distributor in Hong Kong and China, admitted there have been some roadblocks to getting the film a release date, but didn't elaborate on the reasons.

"It is too early for me to comment on this until the situation becomes clearer", he told Variety.com.
