BANGKOK, June 28 (UPI) -- Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry officials say they may appeal Saturday's injunction regarding the ownership of the Preah Vihear temple.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Krit Kraichitti, director-general of the Foreign Ministry's Treaties and Legal Affairs Department, told the Thai News Agency an appeal may be filed to overturn the Administrative Court-issued injunction.

The court ruling suspended an endorsement by the Thai Cabinet of Cambodia's map of the territory surrounding the Hindu temple.

The temple and its surrounding lands have been at the center of a property dispute between Thailand and Cambodia. The People's Alliance for Democracy activist group said the endorsement would have aided Cambodia in the ongoing fight.

The news agency said Krit told court officials that a related communication between the two countries would not represent an agreement by Thailand to forgo any ownership claims to the land.

Krit said Thailand should still have territorial rights even if Cambodia registered the temple as a World Heritage Site at an upcoming United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization meeting.
