POLL: Your Opinion

 » What Do You Think

DENVER, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., plans to make use of the home field advantage later this month when he officially accepts the Democratic presidential nomination.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The scene will be Denver's Invesco Field. About half the 60,000 people in attendance will be Coloradoans. Most of the rest won't be that far from home either.

The Obama campaign announced a ticket allocation plan Wednesday in hopes of strengthening his chances in the battleground state in November, the Denver Post reported Thursday.

By offering most of the rest of the tickets to residents of the intermountain West, Obama strategists hope to gain ground in the region's other hotly contested states of Nevada and New Mexico.

"Purple states are in play, citizens in those purple states should get the VIP seats at Invesco", said political expert Robert Eisinger. "The goal is to mobilize them, excite them, energize them."
