The two discussed the global war on terror and their support for the Middle East peace process, KUNA reported.

The New York congressman told reporters after the meeting he had voiced his country's great appreciation for the Egyptian leader and his effective role in the regional peace process.

When asked whether the U.S. military has taken part in recent Israeli war games, Ackerman denied U.S. involvement.

Ackerman also said the United States had no military plans to resolve its nuclear standoff with Iran, the Kuwaiti news agency said.
