TEHRAN, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says sanctions by the U.N. Security Council against his country's nuclear program are illegal.

"We don't recognize them", he said in an interview, repeating his stand that the nation only wants peaceful nuclear technology to which it is entitled, reported IRNA, the officials Iranian news agency.

The U.N. Security Council has slapped Iran with three rounds of sanctions, IRNA said.

Meanwhile, French President Nicolas Sarkozy warns of an Israeli attack on Iran and says only negotiation can resolve the Iranian nuclear question.
