JERUSALEM, July 22 (UPI) -- A man commandeered a construction vehicle Tuesday and went on a rampage in Jerusalem, in a copy-cat attack of an incident three weeks ago, officials said.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

A man identified as a Palestinian from East Jerusalem drove a backhoe wildly down King David Street, seriously injuring one person before he was killed by Israeli guards stationed near the King David Hotel, CNN reported.

The hotel is the site of an upcoming visit from likely U.S. Democratic Party presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois.

Officials said the man destroyed several cars, barely missed a transit bus and injured 18 people before he was killed, CNN said.

The incident came less than three weeks after a July 2 attack when a Palestinian from East Jerusalem killed three people and injured 30 while driving a stolen bulldozer through Jerusalem. He was also killed.
