JERUSALEM, July 31 (UPI) -- The United States is reported to have agreed to link Israel up to two advanced missile detection systems against a potential attack by a nuclear-armed Iran.

But, U.S. officials made it clear that while Washington was prepared to help Israel defend itself against Iranian missiles, it would not be involved in any Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear enrichment sites.

Military sources said Washington is expected to deliver within six months a powerful forward-based X-band FBX-T radar. DEBKAfile, an Israeli Web site, reported Thursday.

By putting a time frame around delivery, the Bush administration was said to be able to hold off a possible Israeli attack on Iran for as long as possible.
