BEIRUT, Lebanon, May 30 (UPI) -- Lebanese President Michel Suleiman is stressing in meetings with military and political leaders that the nation cannot survive without unity.

Suleiman's comments after a meeting with Lebanese Army Chief Shouqu Al-Masri came in a statement that praised the Lebanese army as a great example of unification of all sects and factions, reported the Kuwaiti News Agency, KUNA, Friday. He also called for cooperation among security agencies, in supporting the military and providing international security.

Recently Suleiman reappointed Fouad Siniora as Lebanon's prime minister, asking him to form a 30-person national unity cabinet that will rule until a 2009 parliamentary election.
