BEIRUT, Lebanon, June 17 (UPI) -- Three people died and four others were hurt in overnight clashes between pro- and anti-government forces in eastern Lebanon, military officials said Tuesday.

The sides began exchanging gunfire and rocket-propelled grenade fire in of Saadnayel and Taalabaya, located in the Bekka Valley, before Lebanese soldiers intervened, CNN reported.

After the troops left, fighting resumed, prompting the soldiers to return, military officials said.
