NABLUS, West Bank, June 8 (UPI) -- An 18-year-old Palestinian man was arrested near the West Bank city of Nablus Sunday after allegedly being found with six pipe bombs, police say.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Israeli military police Cpl. Ron Bezalel said the explosive devices were allegedly found when the teenager sent his bag through an X-ray machine at the Hawara checkpoint Sunday, The Jerusalem Post reported.

The police official said the alleged discovery of the bombs, along with bullets and an ammunition cartridge, was actually "routine" for the checkpoint.

"It's routine to find bombs at this checkpoint ... every day, we find knives and other weapons", Bezalel said.

Military officials said the teenager was likely traveling through the checkpoint on his way to perpetrate an attack in an urban Israeli site, the Post said.

The Palestinian was taken into custody by the Israeli intelligence agency Shin Bet for questioning.

Ynetnews.com said the arrest came three weeks after a 20-year-old Palestinian was fatally shot by security personnel while allegedly carrying three explosive devices at the checkpoint.
