WASHINGTON, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Former U.S. President Bill Clinton is scheduled to address the Democratic National Convention in Denver later this month, a party source has confirmed.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The report in the Los Angeles Times, citing a senior Democrat familiar with convention planning, said Clinton will speak on Wednesday, Aug. 27, before the vice presidential choice and one day before Barack Obama is to officially accept the nomination. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York will address the delegates Aug. 26 and is expected to try to assure her supporters that their voice is being heard.

A joint statement by Hillary Clinton and Obama issued earlier this week said, "We will ensure that the voices of everyone who participated in this historic process are respected and our party will be fully unified heading into the November election."

Since Hillary Clinton ended her presidential campaign in June, it has been unclear whether her husband would appear at the Denver event, the Times said. Clinton campaigned actively for his wife and was said to be angry at the way they were treated.
